About Petro Sep

Two facilities.
One team.

Petro Sep has been fabricating industrial process equipment, packaged plants, and patented membrane systems since 1999. The membrane chemistry, the patents, and membrane production live in our Toronto (Mississauga) shop. The ASME code-stamped pressure-vessel fabrication and Asia-Pacific delivery happen in our Kerteh shop, where most of what we ship is built. Same company, same quality system, from the lab to the commissioned plant.

Our story

A fabricator
that owns the IP.

Most fabricators don't have their own separation IP. Most membrane vendors don't fabricate. The seams between them are where projects fail. The membrane supplier blames the integrator. The integrator blames the engineer. The engineer blames the operator. Somebody is always pointing somewhere else.

Petro Sep was founded in 1999 to do both. Build the equipment and the plants the customer needs, in our own shops, against international code, and bring our own patented separation technology when the fluid is hard. Engineering, fabrication, installation, and operations under one contract. R&D and pilot work added when the project rests on membrane IP.

Twenty-seven years later, we run two facilities. Toronto (corporate HQ, engineering, R&D, membrane chemistry, patents, and membrane production, since 1999) and Kerteh (Petro Sep Engineering Sdn. Bhd., six-acre heavy-iron fabrication shop, 300 MT/month capacity, ASME U, U2, R, and NB, since 2014). Both shops run on the same ISO 9001 quality system, the same engineering team, and the same project-ownership culture. The membranes that power our productized platforms are manufactured through a long-standing joint venture in Yantai, Shandong (China). An exclusive distribution partnership with Tofflon extends our pharmaceutical, bioprocessing, and food-equipment scope.

Certifications, patents, and trademarks

The credentials behind the work.

Code stamps, quality systems, and national licenses, plus the US patents and registered trademarks that protect our productized platforms. Documentation ships in every project handover package.

ASME 'U' Stamp

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Section VIII Division 1, pressure vessel construction

Authorizes Petro Sep to fabricate code-stamped pressure vessels. Held at our Kerteh fabrication shop. Required for ASME-jurisdiction projects in the United States and reciprocally accepted in Canada (with provincial CRN registration), Europe (with PED equivalence), and most international markets.

ASME 'U2' Stamp

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Section VIII Division 2, alternative-rules pressure vessel construction

Authorizes fabrication of pressure vessels designed and built to ASME Section VIII Division 2, the alternative-rules code for higher-design-stress applications. Held at our Kerteh fabrication shop.

ASME 'R' Stamp

National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors

Repair and alteration of pressure-retaining items

Authorizes Petro Sep to perform repairs and alterations on existing code-stamped pressure equipment. Allows us to service systems we did not originally fabricate.

National Board 'NB' Registration

National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors

Registration of fabricated pressure equipment

Petro Sep is authorized to register fabricated pressure equipment with the National Board. NB registration is the standard inspection-jurisdiction record across most US states and many international markets.

ASME Section IX

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Welder qualification, all stainless and exotic alloys

Every welder on our shop floor is qualified per ASME Section IX for the materials and procedures they execute. Welds are traceable from heat number to project number to operator at our Kerteh fabrication shop.
