Privacy policy

This privacy policy applies to Petro Sep Corporation ("Petro Sep," "we," "us"), with global headquarters in Mississauga (Greater Toronto Area), Ontario, Canada, fabrication in Kerteh, Malaysia, and a joint venture in China. This policy covers personal information collected through petrosep.com, the consultation forms on the site, and email or telephone inquiries that result.

We collect personal information in four ways:

• You provide it directly. When you submit a consultation request, an RFQ, or a spec-sheet download form, we collect the fields you fill in (name, work email, company, role, industry, problem description, how you heard about us, and any other optional fields you choose to share). Alongside them we record the page you submitted from, your browser, your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it: country, region and city. City is as precise as this gets. We do not use GPS, and none of it is shared with anyone outside Petro Sep.
• How you found us. With a form, we also record how you reached the site on that visit: the first page you opened (its address up to any question mark), the website that sent you there (its domain only, such as google.com), the campaign tags in the link you followed (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content) and, if you came by clicking one of our Google ads, the click identifier Google adds to that link (gclid, gbraid or wbraid). Until you send a form, these stay in your browser: in the memory of the page and in its session storage, which is not a cookie and is emptied when you close the tab. If you have declined analytics in Cookie settings, or you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or Quebec and have not accepted analytics, nothing is written to session storage and the Google click identifier is not recorded. We keep these details with your enquiry, to learn which pages, searches, websites and advertising bring enquiries.
• You contact us by email or phone. Anything you share in those conversations becomes part of our project records.
• Automatic collection. We measure site traffic in two ways. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views, referrers, and country-level location without setting cookies, without storing anything on your device, and without any identifier that can follow you between sites or between visits. Google Analytics 4 collects more detail (IP address, device, browser, referring URL, and pages visited) and does set cookies; section 4 explains when it runs and how to switch it off. We do not link either to individual identities.

We use personal information to:

• Respond to your consultation, RFQ, or download requests.
• Engage in technical and commercial discussions about your project.
• Maintain project records and contractual documentation, including any NDA signed during the engagement.
• Improve the website (analytics, performance, content prioritization).
• Learn which pages, searches, websites and advertising bring enquiries, so we can improve the site and stop paying for advertising that brings none.

We do not sell or trade personal information. We do not share it with parties outside Petro Sep Corporation, except where required by law or by the terms of a project contract.

Google Analytics is the only thing on this site that sets cookies for measurement, and how we ask about it depends on where you are, because the law differs:

• In the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Quebec, a banner appears on your first visit and Google Analytics loads only if you accept. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set at all.
• Everywhere else, Google Analytics loads by default. You can turn it off whenever you like using Cookie settings in the footer of every page. Choosing Decline there stops the tracking immediately and clears the cookies it has already set.

Whichever way you choose, your choice is remembered in a small first-party cookie so that we do not ask again, and it is honoured on later visits from anywhere.

The same choice covers the record of how you found us described in section 2. It uses session storage rather than a cookie, and declining analytics stops it keeping anything in your browser or recording a Google click identifier.

Google Analytics is linked to our Google Ads account, so Google can report to us which ad clicks led to a completed enquiry form. This uses the Google Analytics cookies described above and the click cookie described below, and follows the same choices.

Our cookieless traffic measurement runs for everyone. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, so there is nothing to accept or decline. The site may also use cookies necessary for basic functionality and for spam protection on our forms (for example Cloudflare Turnstile, where enabled). You can clear cookies in your browser at any time without affecting core site functionality.

We do not place a Google Ads tag or any other advertising pixel on this site. Because Google Analytics is linked to Google Ads, when you arrive by clicking one of our Google ads and Analytics runs, Google may set its own click cookie (_gcl_aw); declining analytics removes it.

Consultation requests and RFQ submissions are retained for the duration of the engagement plus a reasonable period for follow-up (typically two years). Data tied to active project contracts is retained per the contract terms and applicable regulatory requirements.

Depending on your jurisdiction (Canada PIPEDA, EU GDPR, California CCPA, and others), you have rights including:

• Access to the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction of inaccurate information.
• Deletion (subject to contractual and legal retention requirements).
• Withdrawal of consent for analytics collection, at any time, using Cookie settings in the footer.
• Lodging a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Petro Sep operates in five countries. Personal information you share may be transferred to and processed in any of them, subject to appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.
